All is Forgiven If you Can Sing and Dance

The events of the past week have shown to me one of the fundamental problems with American society. In our current society we have stopped valuing character, and now only care about results.  If Facebook, Twitter and the News are any indication, it does not matter to people that Micheal Jackson was most likely a pedophile.  It seems you can “mess” with children all you want as long as you have some hit records and memorable performances to back you up. Yes, it is very sad that the “King of Pop” died, but to me he died the moment it became clear that Micheal was most likely a child molester. It is not just Micheal that has me upset. Manny Ramirez is another person, who by most accounts is a total jerk, yet people love him because he can hit a baseball. Most of his issues are overlooked as long as he is hitting home runs. Is that right? We even have seen this attitude in the business world. There has been many legal cases that point to the possibility that Walmart is awful to their employees and horrible to their suppliers.  Do we care? Most people don’t.  If Walmart continues to show good results with cheaper prices, they continue to help in the demise of this great nation.  In school we were always taught that in Math class, that it didn’t always matter if you got the right answer, but it mattered how you got there. I had Math classes where if  I did all of the right steps, but got the answer wrong, I got a higher grade then if I just wrote the right answer down, yet didn’t show my work, or didn’t go through the proper steps. It is still important we get the right answer, and we have good results, but we need we need to start looking to the character and values of our companies, athletes and entertainers.

This blind hero worship is not healthy.

Here is a video I saw on Boingboing.net. Micheal likes what he looks like and does have to change at all……

    Phantom Mullet,

Like you, I belive anyone who messes with an innocent child, is in no way, shape or form deserving of respect; I realize Michael Jackson was the ‘King of Pop’, but he as well, was a human being. He was never found guilty of any molestation charges, and the families settled out of court for an obnoxious amount of loot- hence a parent can convince a child to do and/or say anything.(in my mind) Honestly, I believe he was innocent; he was too much of a child himself. This is why I took such offense to those representing such disrespect towards Mr. Jackson, not only because he had an amazing carreer.

Just wanted to throw that our there. =]
